Masters 2027 Lottery Opens Amid Surging Golf Popularity

The Masters Tournament has opened its 2027 ticket lottery, sparking intense interest among American golf fans. The annual tradition allows the public to enter for a chance to purchase practice round or tournament day tickets at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia.

Interest has surged this year as golf's popularity reaches new heights following Tiger Woods' recent comeback and the emergence of young stars like Scottie Scheffler. The Masters website saw heavy traffic within hours of the lottery opening Wednesday morning.

"We're seeing record demand already," said Masters spokesperson Steve Ethun. "The 2026 tournament hasn't even happened yet, but fans are already looking ahead." The lottery runs through June 30, 2026, with winners notified by late July.

Practice round tickets for 2027 start at $100, while tournament day badges cost $140. The limited supply makes securing tickets through the lottery increasingly difficult - last year's odds were estimated at less than 5%.

Secondary market prices often reach thousands of dollars, making the lottery the only affordable option for most fans. The 2027 tournament will mark the 91st playing of the Masters, with exact dates to be announced later.

Golf's growing US audience, boosted by Netflix's "Full Swing" documentary series and LIV Golf's controversial emergence, has made Masters tickets more coveted than ever. Many applicants said they're entering now to potentially celebrate the tournament's centennial in 2034.

Augusta National typically allocates about 40,000 daily tickets, though exact numbers are never disclosed. The club maintains strict policies against ticket resales, with violators risking permanent bans from future lotteries.

Fans can enter at masters.com through their registered accounts. The site warns applicants to beware of third-party scams offering guaranteed tickets, as the lottery remains the only official public ticket distribution method.
