The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued the alert just after 2 a.m. Sunday, describing the missing child as a Black female with brown hair and brown eyes, standing 4'6" tall and weighing approximately 75 pounds. She was last seen wearing pink pajamas with unicorn designs.
Cobb County Police Department spokesperson Officer Shenise Johnson told reporters Sunday morning that investigators have "credible information suggesting the child may be in imminent danger." The alert has been extended to neighboring Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida.
This case is currently trending nationally as concerned citizens across the Southeast share the alert on social media. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has also amplified the search efforts through their networks.
Authorities are asking residents in the metro Atlanta area to check home surveillance cameras from late Saturday night through early Sunday morning. A command post has been established at Cobb County Police Headquarters where tips are being coordinated.
Georgia State Patrol units have been deployed to monitor major highways, while MARTA police are checking transit stations. The FBI's Atlanta field office has joined the investigation, though officials stress this remains primarily a local law enforcement operation.
