Tottenham Hotspur's U.S. Tour Sparks Major Fan Excitement
Tottenham Hotspur F.C. announced plans for a high-profile U.S. preseason tour this summer, triggering widespread excitement among American soccer fans. The English Premier League club will face MLS teams and European rivals in three cities, marking their first U.S. appearance since 2019.
The tour, running from July 18-30, includes matches in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami. Tottenham will play Inter Miami CF on July 19 at DRV PNK Stadium, a matchup that could feature Lionel Messi against Spurs' star striker Son Heung-min. Other confirmed opponents include the LA Galaxy and AS Roma.
Club chairman Daniel Levy called the tour "a crucial step in growing our global fanbase" during a press conference Thursday. The announcement comes as Tottenham battles for a Champions League spot in the EPL, currently sitting fourth in the table with six games remaining.
Ticket presales begin April 18 through the club's official website, with general sales opening April 22. Hospitality packages costing up to $1,500 per seat sold out within hours of the announcement, according to team officials.
The tour is trending today as American supporters' groups organize watch parties and travel plans. "This is our chance to see world-class soccer without flying to London," said Mark Thompson, president of the Texas Spurs fan club. Over 30 official supporters clubs exist across the U.S., with particularly strong followings in California, New York, and Texas.
Tottenham's U.S. popularity has grown since goalkeeper Kasey Keller joined the club in 2001. Current American interest stems from the club's consistent top-four finishes and streaming-friendly match times. NBC Sports reported a 22% increase in Tottenham viewership among U.S. audiences this season compared to 2024-25.
The tour coincides with heightened Stateside interest in soccer ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which the U.S. will co-host. Industry analysts predict the matches could draw combined attendance exceeding 150,000 across the three venues.
Manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed the full first-team squad will travel, including recent signings expected to be finalized before the tour. The club also plans open training sessions and community events in each host city.
Secondary ticket markets already show premium seats for the Miami match listed at triple face value. Tourism officials in all three cities report spikes in hotel searches for the tour dates, particularly from international travelers combining matches with summer vacations.
Tottenham last toured the U.S. in 2019, drawing sellout crowds in Orlando and Los Angeles. This year's expanded itinerary reflects the club's strategy to capitalize on growing MLS interest and the Premier League's Stateside TV deal, which runs through 2028.
