PGA Championship 2026 Venue And Dates Officially Announced
The PGA of America confirmed today that the 2026 PGA Championship will be held at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, from May 14-17. The announcement comes exactly two years before the tournament, sparking excitement among golf fans as tickets and hospitality packages go on sale.
Aronimink, a historic Donald Ross-designed course, last hosted the PGA Championship in 1962. The club has undergone recent renovations to modernize its layout while preserving its classic character. PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh called it "a perfect test for the world's best players" in today's press conference.
This marks the first major championship announcement since the PGA Tour's controversial deal with Saudi-backed LIV Golf was finalized last month. Several top players including Rory McIlroy have already expressed enthusiasm about competing at Aronimink, which could become a pivotal event in the reunified golf landscape.
The 2026 tournament will follow next year's PGA Championship at Quail Hollow and the 2025 edition at Southern Hills. Pennsylvania last hosted a men's major in 2022 when the U.S. Open came to The Country Club in Brookline.
Local officials estimate the event will generate over $100 million for the Philadelphia-area economy. Ticket pre-registration opened this morning through the PGA Championship website, with early demand causing temporary website slowdowns according to tournament organizers.
Golf analysts note the May dates avoid conflict with the Summer Olympics, allowing stars like Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm to compete in both events. The PGA Championship typically rotates between August and May dates depending on the Olympic schedule.
Spectator interest appears unusually high for an event two years out, likely due to pent-up demand after recent golf controversies and the historic nature of Aronimink's return to the major championship rotation. The club has hosted numerous USGA events but hasn't held a PGA Tour event since 2018.
Practice rounds will begin May 11, with the traditional Wednesday pro-am scheduled for May 13. Tournament organizers confirmed they'll use a similar fan experience model to recent PGA Championships, including expanded concession options and interactive golf technology displays.
