Georgia AMBER Alert Issued For Missing 9-Year-Old Girl

An AMBER Alert was activated across Georgia early Sunday morning after a 9-year-old girl was reported missing from her home in Cobb County. Authorities say the child was last seen around 1:30 a.m. on April 13, 2026, and may be in "imminent danger."

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued the alert statewide, describing the missing child as a Black female, 4'6" tall, with brown eyes and black braided hair. She was last wearing pink pajamas. No suspect or vehicle information has been released as the investigation remains active.

This case is trending nationally as it marks the third AMBER Alert issued in Georgia this month. Social media users across the U.S. are sharing the alert, with #FindHerGeorgia trending on Twitter. Local law enforcement has set up a tip line (1-800-THE-LOST) and is urging residents to check security cameras.

Cobb County Police Chief Stuart VanHoozer held a press conference at 8 a.m., stating: "We're using every resource available and following all leads. The first hours are critical in these cases." Neighbors reported seeing increased police activity overnight near the child's Marietta neighborhood.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has joined the search, distributing the child's photo to law enforcement nationwide. Georgia State Patrol helicopters are conducting aerial searches while K-9 units comb nearby wooded areas.

AMBER Alerts have helped recover over 1,100 children nationwide since the program began in 1996. Georgia's system, implemented in 2002, sends notifications to phones, highway signs, and media outlets when a child is believed to be in grave danger.

Authorities ask anyone with information to call 911 immediately. The case has drawn particular attention due to the child's young age and the overnight disappearance, which investigators call "highly unusual." Updates will be provided through the GBI's social media channels.
