Bulls Edge Mavericks In Overtime Thriller As Playoff Race Heats Up

The Chicago Bulls defeated the Dallas Mavericks 112-110 in overtime Sunday night in a nationally televised showdown with major playoff implications. The game is trending across the U.S. as fans debate controversial officiating and clutch performances from stars DeMar DeRozan (34 points) and Luka Dončić (40 points, 12 assists).

With just two weeks remaining in the regular season, the victory moves Chicago (42-36) into seventh place in the Eastern Conference, while Dallas (43-35) clings to the West's final play-in spot. The United Center crowd of 21,000 erupted when Alex Caruso blocked Dončić's potential game-tying layup at the buzzer.

The NBA's Last Two Minute Report confirmed two missed calls in the final minute of regulation, including an uncalled travel by Bulls guard Coby White. Mavericks coach Jason Kidd told reporters: "When the stakes are this high, every possession matters. We'll learn from this."

Social media erupted over Dončić's 18-point fourth quarter and DeRozan's vintage mid-range game. ESPN's Stephen A. Smith tweeted: "This is why we watch basketball in April." The game drew 4.2 million viewers, making it the most-watched NBA matchup this week.

Both teams face critical games this week - Chicago visits Miami on Tuesday while Dallas hosts Phoenix Wednesday. With the playoffs looming, every game could determine postseason seeding or elimination from contention entirely.
